|On the heels of the official kick-off to summer, we are thrilled to celebrate the second annual Black Birders Week starting today through Saturday, June 5. This year’s celebration will showcase Black STEM unity and the many unique ways Black people connect in the outdoors.|
Black Birders Week 2021 is organized by the BlackAFInSTEM Collective, a group that seeks to support, uplift, and amplify Black STEM professionals in natural resources and the environment through professional development, career connection, and community engagement.
While not an official organizer, Audubon is proud to be a partner of Black Birders Week 2021. We encourage Audubon members and birders everywhere to support the trailblazing work of BlackAFInSTEM, help lift up Black professionals and voices shared via the hashtag #BlackBirdersWeek2021, and check out the official event merchandise found at BlackAFInSTEM.com.
To join the celebration, start by following @BlackAFInSTEM on Twitter or your social media platform of choice, then share and engage with the daily themes outlined in the official flyer above, and spend some time learning more about the Black experience in STEM, the outdoors, and in the birding community at large.
